Paper published on Krt15+ crypt cells

Véronique Giroux, first author and a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Anil Rustgi’s lab at the University of Pennsylvania, collaborated with researchers from Fox Chase Cancer Center, and CHOP and published a paper on mouse intestinal Krt15+ crypt cells in Stem Cell Reports.

Highlights from the paper include:

  • Krt15 marks multipotent and self-renewing crypt cells in the mouse small intestine
  • Krt15+ crypt cells are radio-resistant and contribute to regeneration following injury
  • Apc loss in Krt15+ cells leads to intestinal adenoma and adenocarcinoma formation
  • Krt15+ cells may function as a cell of origin in intestinal cancer
Krt15+ cells were visualized by GFP immunofluorescence (n = 4–7 mice/time point).
